Course Description: 


In the pursuit of closing the housing gap and promoting equal access to homeownership, Realtors® play a crucial role in helping consumers overcome credit barriers. This class on Credit Karma is specifically designed to empower Realtors® with the knowledge and skills to support consumers in navigating credit challenges and achieving their homeownership goals. By focusing on the consumer perspective, Realtors® will learn how to effectively leverage Credit Karma to remove credit barriers and facilitate successful real estate transactions.

This class will equip Realtors® with the knowledge and skills to effectively leverage Credit Karma, analyze credit barriers, and support consumers in overcoming credit challenges.

Learning Objectives:


-   Understand the role and importance of credit reporting agencies in the real estate industry, including their impact on loan eligibility and financing options.


-  Identify the common credit barriers that can hinder consumers' access to homeownership.


-  Gain knowledge of the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA)


- Learn the best practices for utilizing Credit Karma effectively as a tool for assessing clients' credit health, analyzing credit reports and scores, and identifying potential risks or red flags that may impact real estate transactions. 


- Learn how to use credit, monitor credit, and improve credit scores.


- Utilize Credit Karma to assess credit reports and scores and identify potential barriers.



This course is approved by the MN Commissioner of Commerce for 2.5 hours of Real Estate Continuing Education Credits.

With over two decades of experience as a licensed Realtor since 2000 and a loan officer since 1995, I bring a comprehensive understanding of the real estate and lending industries to every class I teach. As the owner and broker of a small boutique brokerage in the Twin Cities, I have firsthand knowledge of the nuances and challenges faced by buyers, sellers, and real estate professionals in today’s dynamic market.

I hold an undergraduate degree in Ethnic Studies, a master’s degree in Advocacy and Political Leadership, and I am currently a doctoral candidate specializing in Adult Education and Public Policy. My academic background, combined with extensive professional experience, uniquely equips me to engage adult learners through diverse teaching methods tailored to meet different learning styles—whether kinetic, visual, or auditory—to ensure concepts are clear and applicable at every level.

My teaching philosophy centers on advocacy and empowerment, helping real estate professionals not only master transactional skills but also develop the leadership and communication abilities necessary to advocate effectively for their clients. I focus on practical, real-world scenarios, encouraging critical thinking to navigate complex situations such as negotiations, financing choices, and market analysis.

I am passionate about helping adults learn in ways that resonate with their experiences and enable them to apply knowledge immediately. Whether guiding first-time homebuyers, seasoned agents, or industry professionals, I strive to create a supportive and interactive learning environment that fosters confidence and success in the real estate field.
