About the class: High Performance Homes (HPH): Understanding, Identifying, and Marketing Energy-Efficient Housing As energy efficiency, sustainability, and homeowner comfort become increasingly important in residential real estate, High Performance Homes (HPHs) are creating new opportunities for real estate professionals. This course provides an introduction to the principles, technologies, and benefits of High Performance Homes, including building science fundamentals, energy-efficient equipment, home performance rating systems, and building envelope improvements. Participants will learn how heat, air, and moisture move through a home and how technologies such as heat pumps, induction cooking, heat pump water heaters, and improved insulation contribute to efficiency, comfort, and lower operating costs. The course also explores common high-performance home certifications and rating systems, including Net Zero, Passive House, Energy Star, and HERS. Through real-world examples and practical application, attendees will gain the knowledge needed to identify High Performance Home features, understand their impact on home value, accurately represent them in MLS listings, and effectively communicate their benefits to buyers and sellers.
